Matt is the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Benefitfocus. As an industry veteran with more than 15 years of experience in corporate development and strategic planning, Matt is passionate about the benefits, benefits technology and health care technology industry. Matt joined the Benefitfocus team in 2021, bringing with him his distinguished track record of driving innovation and shareholder value in the benefits administration area. Prior to Benefitfocus, Matt served as Chief Strategy Officer at ADP, where he was responsible for strategy and corporate development. Prior to that, he worked at Aon and Hewitt Associates.

As the oldest of four sons, Matt learned natural leadership skills at an early age, which is partly why he considered joining Benefitfocus – an industry-leader in benefits administration – his dream job. Matt is passionate about customer success and was drawn to Benefitfocus by the technology and service innovations, culture, and people. Matt believes there is a tremendous opportunity to improve the health care industry, and exceeding our customers’ expectations is his greatest priority.

Alpana is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Benefitfocus. She joined the team in April 2017 bringing a renewed focus on accelerating growth for our health plan business. Leveraging her experience, she quickly saw an opportunity to provide financial leadership to the organization by moving into the VP, Corporate Controller role at the end of 2017. Appointed CFO in 2020, extending her role beyond typical bean counting, she uses her operational background to partner with our business leaders to influence smarter decision making and execution of key strategic initiatives. With more than 20 years of experience, she is a catalyst for driving operational and strategic improvements, constantly working on tangible ways to create better value for our stakeholders: customers, shareholders and associates alike. 

Roles & Responsibilities

Alpana oversees our holistic financial organization, leading strategic direction for our FP&A, corporate finance, controller, investor relations, operational excellence, legal and information technology arms. She mentors and cultivates this team of super talented people by bringing curiosity to drive constructive change. She’s armed with data to give actionable insights and she effectively communicates our strategy and progress against it to all stakeholders.

Craig is Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Benefitfocus. He joined the Benefitfocus team in August 2021. With more than 30 years of experience in the insurance brokerage and benefits administration space, he has a strong passion for health care education, access and empowerment and is committed to disrupting the status quo. Leaning into his servant leadership style, Craig cultivates our growth teams with a holistic approach that focuses on client value and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Craig is responsible for all facets of our go-to-market strategy, including sales, marketing, communications, sales operations, partnership management and voluntary benefits/insurance catalog. He is a dynamic leader who leads by example and drives a culture of collaboration, accountability and high – yet humble – performance.
 

Sue joined our team in 2021 and leads our customer organization as the Chief Customer Officer (CCO). She oversees our customer growth, retention and most importantly operational excellence. Her incredibly deep background in the health plan segment, partnered with her extensive experience serving customers in growth-focused businesses makes her an invaluable asset to the team.

Roles & Responsibilities

Sue’s focus is to ensure Benefitfocus delivers excellence to our customers in implementation, open enrollment and day-to-day operations. She is responsible for the end-to-end customer experience, including customer management, the Benefitfocus Benefits Service Center and account general management. A self-proclaimed fanatic of customer success, Sue’s motto is, “Talk to everyone as if they were your grandmother. I obsess over stellar service.”

Tina joined the Benefitfocus team in 2021 and brings with her more than 25 years of in-depth benefits administration, health care consulting and clinical navigation experience. She has built herself a reputation for delivering on promises and draws energy from the discipline and conviction to execute.  She feels strongly that through exceptional service and health care technology, we can improve individuals’ experiences within our complex health care system, creating value for both employers and health plans.

Roles & Responsibilities 

As Chief Product & Strategy Officer, Tina leads our Product Management organization and is responsible for aligning product, customer and company strategy. Working closely with our Engineering, Customer Service and Sales & Marketing organizations, she ensures we keep our customers’ voice front and center. Embracing the importance of listening and learning, Tina is passionate about helping employers and health plans uncover the insights and solutions necessary to effectively tackle their most pressing challenges.
